Trust the Process

"Trust the Process"

That is the motto for Joel Embid and the Philadelphia 76er’s throughout the 2018 NBA season. In life and sports there is a lot of parallels that hold true between the two. Trusting the process is something that shines bright for both.

You may not know why things happens the way that they do but I’m starting to realize there is a reason for it. Me and Kevin met on what you would call “bad odds” for the fact that Kevin got rehired on as a furniture salesman at FR (after an interesting first stint) and never in a million years would I imagine I would be a commission furniture sales person (short lived career choice) after moving 500 plus miles to live in Boise, ID. Yet for some reason we worked at the same spot and start talking about how cool it would be to start up a podcast (our generations “Let’s start a band”). After that we bought the recording gear and started blowing each and everyone’s mind with the greatest recordings ever put on the internet.

The Houston Astros are a prime example of trusting the process. Throughout the dark years of 2009 to 2014 that team had to go full rebuilding mode and as a fan that is one of the hardest things to power through (I’m a Mariners fan, we have been rebuilding since 2001). You feel as if there is no end in sight but look at that team once they hit the 2015 season. They won the American League Wild Card in 2015, Placed 3rd in the division during the 2016 season, and in the 2017 season they won the World Series with good odds of doing it again in 2018.

You must believe there is a reason for all the things that happen in your life. You do need to set yourself up for the best chance of success but after that, buckle up for the crazy ride. From daily experiences to your favorite sports teams out come remember “trust the process”.

“To be as good as it can be, a team has to buy into what you as the coach are doing. They have to feel you’re a part of them and they’re a part of you.”
